Introducing Solid Foods: The 10-Day Rule
When you start weaning your baby, it is highly recommended to stick to one type of porridge (kurukku) for at least 10 consecutive days.
Why is this important?
Up until now, the baby’s digestive system has only processed breast milk. Introducing too many different types of food at once can overwhelm their stomach, leading to indigestion and other health issues. Giving the body time to adjust to one food source helps protect the baby's overall health.
How to start:
Day 1: Offer a very small amount, only once during the day.
Day 2 onwards: Gradually increase the quantity and frequency (e.g., twice a day) based on the baby's comfort.
After 10 Days: Once the baby has settled, you can begin introducing different varieties of food, one at a time.
